How to Reduce Homesickness
Hey there, this one is my first blog ever.. in my life. No kidding haha. I'm currently working abroad with my mother. That's why I choose first to write about how to deal with homesickness abroad. So here's my tips for you ;)
NO. 1 LOVE YOUR NEW PLACE
EXPLORE! Look for something new. Find their Tourist spots that you must visit and make a list! Try their local foods, visit museums where you can learn about their tradition and life. This will keep you focused and excited on your next adventure. But some said they feel lonely and just want to stay home and not be very active compared to how they would be at home. But heeey, oh come on.. you, yourself, making yourself SAD. Let's be active ha? hahaha. (but sometimes I also just want to sleep and stay home.. and cry. KIDDING! :D) Get out of your comfort zone.
NO. 2 LEARN NEW THINGS
Improve yourself, improve your career, and image. These things will make you busy. Learn how to do something you want to become. Apply for a class that you want and sooner this will give you a reward. and one of my favorite, Give yourself a "ME TIME", Treat yourself. Do what makes you happy and comfortable. Take a break that will calm your mind and always be positive.
No. 3 MAKE A FRIEND
Making friends in your new environment. Starting a conversation with someone you don't know is somehow hard. Because you don't know them exact personally. Especially when you are working abroad. Different people you will see at work. Different vision in life. What you will do is just be real and find your common interest in life. Take your time to know them well, don't judge too fast. Don't focus on your differences instead understand what he/she really is.
There're a lot more ways to deal with homesickness. The important is, you must always know how to make yourself happy even at hard times. Just enjoy your new experiences abroad. But don't forget your old friends and always stay in touch to them. There's a lot social media for connecting people today. So it's easier to connect with people you love.
